FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is coverage booked for consecutive hours or can we break the hours up over the day?
All coverage is billed from start time to end time, consecutively.
Do you do destination work and how do you bill for it?
Yes! And I love it. Charges for destination work depend on the location, amount of travel to/from, and the nature of the assignment. Please reach out to tell me more about your day and I can provide a proposal!
Can I have the RAW files or all of the digital negatives?
No and also not once before and also not ever in the future! For a million reasons not worth getting into, but firm no, and also trust me when I say you don’t want or need them.
How many images will I receive?
This is always a bit of a moving target depending on the conditions and timeline of the day, but I find I usually turn over about 40ish final, edited images per shooting hour. I’m a firm believer in a high quality, concise collection where every image is important. To me, this is a much more valuable experience than drowning your eyeballs in a thousand options that may or may not be flattering or redundant. I don’t have a cap on how many images I deliver, I have just found this to be the average amount. The images you receive will be edited, full res, and watermark free.
Why is your contract so long and should I be scared?
Legalese is always scary, in my opinion, so I understand that reading contracts is inherently off-putting. That said, when you see an enormous contract with a million details spelled out, take it as a sign that the business has thoroughly vetted out all possible scenarios and is telling you in advance exactly how they will be handled. No surprises, no confusion. Before entering into this relationship, you are going to know EXACTLY how this relationship will go down from start to finish, and how I will handle any and all mitigating circumstances that might come up along the way. I believe in full transparency. So no, don’t be scared, feel safe knowing that this document protects us both :)
I see you display mostly artsy couples photos, and we love that, but also will probably want family photos and detail shots. Do you do that?
Yup. I don’t display formal photos or detail shots usually because they tend to be a little more formulaic than I think is interesting to look at on a website or social media feed, but don’t worry, we’ll get all those important shots for you too!
How long have you been doing wedding photography? Can I trust you with the most important day of my life?
It’s strange for me to realize this, but as of 2021 I’ve been doing this for 14 years. I’ve shot hundreds of weddings in every manner of space/location/weather/lighting/chaos. I got you as good as anyone possibly could, I promise :)
Do you shoot solo or with a second shooter?
For weddings exceeding 50 guests, I typically bring along a second shooter for at least part of the day to focus on the design, details, and setting. From there I might also advice that we include a third photographer for second angles and more guest coverage. If you would like film photography we can hire someone for that as well.
